Executive Summary

The year, 2008, was heralded as the year of “New Beginnings” and so it was for the Parish Nurse Resource Center (PNRC). From it’s incorporation on October 27, 2008 until the final day of the fiscal year, June 30, 2009, PNRC has celebrated many firsts. This inaugural Annual Report is presented as an introduction to this new organization and a report of the first year accomplishments.

During a year of strategic visioning, the reality and benefits of Parish Nursing was communicated to various groups representing both Healthcare and Ministry. Feedback was solicited, questions answered and ideas collected. Soon, officers were identified and the framework of the Parish Nurse Resource Center took shape. After incorporation a task force was formed to articulate the Vision, Mission and Values. Goals were developed and the Prayer Team began. Clarke Community Connection became the fiscal agent. By Spring, 2009, PNRC celebrated the receipt of its first grant and the graduation of its first Parish Nurse.

In summary, while most would say that the economy is not conducive to a non-profit start up, I believe that PNRC is “off to a good start” with a bright future ahead. For even such a time as this, the promise of abundant life remains and the best is yet to come.
